Republicans say ICE agents are facing huge threats and Democrats' calls for reform are a non-starter. But being an elementary school student in the U.S. is more deadly than being an ICE officer.
Absolutely love the way you guys started the pod cast with the candid statements from days gone by. The corruption in the Border Patrol and the rest actually surprised me and I have always been skeptical of the org. growing up in Ca. but had no idea how bad it really is! This really does need to be shut down and reformed from the ground up.......you 3 guys are the best!!!
OMG! He simply is incapable of answering a direct question in a direct way. He speaks PAINFULLY slowly … with long pauses, and interjections like “uh” …. and then surrounds EVERY statement with detours, and hypothetical examples, and so the “by the way” s etc are so frequent, so convoluted, that by the end of it you don’t know even what the point was. The parentheticals, the detours, the explanations, qualifications, that it just is extremely frustrating. Also , Joe needs a way to cut out traffic nose.
Graff speaks SO painfully slowly and with SO many side diversions to varied cul-de-sacs, that it takes him FOREVER just to answer the question of “What kind of people is ICE hiring?” I am dying here!!!
So it seems JD Vance took and passed the bar exam in Kentucky. Why there?
Online it says he worked as an associate lawyer for one year with the law firm Sidley Austin LLP in San Francisco from about 2014 to 2015, focusing on corporate litigation before transitioning to venture capital.
?? How could he do that if he hadn’t taken and passed the bar in California ??
??Was he let go from Sidley Austin, perhaps for failing to pass the California bar??
Great conversation.. and the background info and stats on ICE should be shared with everyone. I was one of those Dean believers and that campaign still inspires me to pay attention and stay involved. Thanks for that, too!
Thank for this great conversation. Especially your knowledgeable comments, Mr. Garret. I am disgraced by the fact that our duly sworn in AG back on the old blame game, that President Biden created this mess, of DHS. I find it very concerning and childish like behavior since , President Biden has been out office. I guess this administration is competing with the former administration, when it comes to migrants. Thank you, Mr. Tripp I and Mr. Klein, for acknowledging the mistake this administration is making. Enough is Enough!
IPC(identity protective cognition) seems to be another name for the Reagan era victimhood game that has been pretty much the way the far right has relied on for the past 50y so as to to re-phrase "poor poor me"
When individuals like Cheeto morph into political groups taking on victimhood, they become irresponsible and unaccountable Put simply, "Hey, it's not me that made that failed policy, it's the (fill in the blank) The blank can be economy, immigrants, foreigners, Fed chair, Jeffrey Epstein
Now white supremacists in the form of the Christian Nationalist ideology have decided to become victims.....the oppressed whities have become the new "poor poor me" They....whoever that might be....are taking our jobs, taking whatever from me
But the bottom line when becoming victims is that it spawns unaccountability If you let your child get away with not cleaning his/her plate after eating, you subtly send the message that it's ok not to be accountable for anything in life Many of these far right victims have been raised with a silver spoon coming out of their mouths at birth Privileged and unaccountable
Would it be possible to have a NO KINGS website where people can sign up, backing the movement on-line if they are unable to attend a march? I'm not an adept at computers and marched endlessly against the VietNam war back in the day. I care no less now about what is going on in our country but at 85 years am not quite as resilient as I was then. It would be lovely to see the lead marchers carrying an endless scroll bearing the names of those who are behind the movement heart and soul if not able to add their bodies to the cause. I’m totally into Graff. Thanks for highlighting his scholarship and his views.
I had always heard ICE used to be better than the monstrous racist unconstitutional organization they are now. Apparently not.

But WHO is ICE hiring???? For the love of God! Answer the question!!!
Is he EVER going to get to the end of this question???!!!

Just curious why this hasn’t been looked into.

$45 Billion to expand ICE detention centers but no expansion for immigration courts - a strategy to scale suffering and death.

Yes, ICE is even worse than we could possibly imagine.
