Impeach Donald Trump before He Destroys Everything
I was grateful this Thanksgiving that more Americans, including some Republicans, understand how dangerous this moment is, and are willing to fight this lawless and cruel regime.
Even during the holiday week, there came yet more evidence — as if we need it — that Donald Trump is a clear and present danger to America and all that we value. He must be impeached and forever removed from office.
I know, you think that will never happen. But courtesy of this terrible President, we are living through a lot of things that we thought would never happen.
Let’s start with a look at what Donald Trump is doing in my hometown of Chicago. DHS troops, consisting of armed, camouflaged, and masked ICE and CBP personnel, entered Chicago on September 9 and began a campaign of terror. Donald Trump said they were here to find those in the country illegally. We now know that was a lie. These troops were deployed to launch a criminal campaign to attack whole communities where immigrants are known to live, to threaten and intimidate citizens, to assault protestors, to gas neighborhood streets, and to hide these crimes behind false reports. This work continues, as do the government’s lies about its methods, purposes, and impact.
The videos evidence from reporters, bystanders, and bodycams speak clearly: DHS is lying. Federal agents are attacking Americans. Federal agents are using AI to write up false use-of-force reports. In Chicago, Judge Sara Ellis examined the evidence and found that it has “become difficult if not impossible to believe almost anything that [DHS] represents.”
WBEZ and the Chicago Sun Times report that U.S. Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino filed a criminal complaint accusing 27-year-old Cole Sheridan of “forcibly assaulting, resisting, opposing, impeding and interfering with a federal officer” during a sit in at the Broadview immigration facility. Sheridan was taken away and locked up, eventually in the Metropolitan Correction Center in Chicago with other federal inmates. A month later, a friend of his found video evidence that proved all of Bovino’s allegations false. Federal prosecutors dropped the charges the next day.
Chicagoans continue to resist, to protect one another, and to bear witness. Of course, Bovino still has his job, and is now targeting Charlotte, North Carolina with reports that New Orleans is also on his wish list.
Meanwhile, President Trump continues to expand his enemies list. His hate filled posts are too vile to quote but promise to strip citizenship away from Americans who are “non-compatible with Western Civilization.” He counted 54 million of them in a recent post and promised mass deportations.
Let’s be clear about what all of this is. The closest America has ever come to experiencing life under a White Christian Nationalist government with a masked paramilitary domestic terror unit protected by a corrupt Justice Department was in the Jim Crow South, where law enforcement officers doubled as KKK terrorists. Today’s doxxing of federal judges, opposition politicians, and outspoken critics are the new high-tech versions of cross burnings.
How Social Networks Are Torpedoing Truth — and Democracies across the Globe
“Democracy runs on trust. Dictatorship runs on fear. The moment trust erodes — whether in institutions, elections, or truth itself — democracy crumbles.”
If you are still waiting for things to get worse before deciding we cannot wait three more years to put an end to this madness, you won’t have to wait very long. Just look at everything that happened last week:
Trump pardoned former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez who partnered with el Chapo and other cocaine traffickers who ran drugs into the United States. At the same time, he murdered more people on boats in the Caribbean — ostensibly to protect us from drug trafficking.
Survivors of an attack on those boats clung to the side of their burning ship. Pete Hegseth gave the order to kill those survivors. The military complied. Experts say the order to kill was illegal.
President Trump attacked lawmakers who served in the military when they reminded others that illegal orders must not be followed. Hegseth then opened an investigation to determine how he could punish one of them, Arizona U.S. Senator Mark Kelly.
We learned that the complete sellout of Ukraine to Russia (which is a sellout of all of Europe, and of democracy and international law as well) includes a multi-billion-dollar deal offered by Russia to Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff.
Trump moved closer to military intervention in Venezuela.
More U.S. government websites became organs of the MAGA party, posting partisan screeds in place of the information Congress funded those agencies to provide.
Trump overruled his own architect who objected to Trump’s plans to dwarf the White House with his new golden ballroom.
If the GOP delegation in Washington included even a handful of human beings who loved our country, this nightmare might end before the world burns. During Thanksgiving week some Republicans in Indiana, and some even on Capitol Hill seem to have had enough. For that, the nation is grateful this Thanksgiving.

Even if he is Gone, where does project 2025 in the Heritage foundation stand? Those people need to be removed from wherever they are embedded. What is the likelihood of success by in acting section 4 of article 2 of the constitution that discusses removal of a president‘s entire cabinet due to treason?
"If the GOP delegation in Washington included even a handful of human beings who loved our country...some Republicans in Indiana, and some even on Capitol Hill seem to have had enough" Mr. Eisendrath writes. With all due respect, there isn't that small delegation in Washington. And some Republicans "seem" to have had enough? I'll be thankful when they actually have had enough, and finally stand up to Trump. But I'm not holding my breath. Hoping Republicans will grow a collective spine is the same sort of wishcasting that it will be Trump's physical health that finally does him in. Look, the man will live until he's 110. The only thing that will finally put an end to this Trumpian nightmare we're living through, is when enough Americans--and that means a majority of people who voted for this creep--publicly reject him and MAGA once and for all. I just hope we still have elections in which that can be done.
