A new constitutional convention would be so exciting. No more Second Amendment, no electoral college, no incursions on personal liberties and no mixing of church and state (if we have to spell those problems out item by item to reverse all the damage done by this corrupt SCOTUS), no constitutional rights for corporations. Each state votes in or out, county by county if necessary. New York and California need to step up and get the ball rolling. Tough work, but do we have leaders who could get it done?
I’m buying the book right now! I have to laugh a little. To parrot our brilliant president, where did you learn your crisp English? What a moron he is. But, as a lover of accents, yours is not totally British, it is almost rounded out by a bit of a Scottish influence. I have never heard it. It is fascinating.
In recent remarks at the right wing Claremont Institute Vance put on display the Nazi movement’s(ie Christian Nationalist Party-CNP) agenda as to the Nazi idea of “pure blooded Americans born on American soil” which certainly supports his ethnocleansing ideas supporting the attack on birthright citizenship and immigration policy Previous comments that Vance has made(https://bit.ly/3BrXePA) makes his fascist position very clear
He related: “I believe one of the most pressing problems for us to face as statesmen is to redefine the meaning of American citizenship in the 21st century.” America, he said, “is not just an idea, we’re a particular place with a particular people and a particular set of beliefs and way of life.” As Heather Cox Richardson points out this is in contrast to the 1850’s idea of manifest destiny which included immigrants in its political policy
What JD Vance is peddling is anathema to the immigrant status of all Americans His stance on this ideology is even contrary to his own life in which he has married an East Indian woman born from immigrant East Indian parents and has fostered 2 children Hardly “pure blooded Americans born on American soil” His hypocrisy is so thick it fails the initial smell test
But this is the CNP in a nutshell using the “deplorable” immigrants in the country to support the hideous mass deportation policy of the current Nazi regime As Hitler wrote in 1928 “We tolerate no one in our ranks who attacks the ideas of Christianity. Our movement is Christian.” What Vance is supporting is hardly an American ideal and will disqualify him as a future presidential candidate in 2028
Setting a set number in the House of Representatives made that part of Congress flawed also. Either they should have one member of the House per number of citizens or they should increase the number of members of the House.
