Frist and 10, March Madness: March Madness,2020 was set to go, but due to Covid-19, on March 12, 2020 it was cancelled. Not only were we facing world wide pandemic, our lives were up-side down. For me the March Madness cancellation--which did need to happen--brought an emptiness into my world,-- no basketball, oh no,-- as well as the danger of what we face with this pandemic. Those first couple of weeks we difficult---No basketball! Since then as NCAA B-ball has gradually changed my fanatism for basketball has waned a bit...until the games start. Games are fun and basketball is the best.
Second and Long: Has anyone really asked Nike founder about his support of a conversative agenda? Loved to know the reasoning. I am told we need to understand each other. Such a challenge that.
Third & Short: I have always found novels about baseball more interesting than baseball. But Stan- the Man Musial will always have a spot in my heart.
4th and Democracy: Great point Evan. I had never thought about the Ex-wife reminder always in the description of a very successful women. Not needed at all. Thanks highlighting this.
We had NIKE stock they were WOKE and stood up for Colin Kaepernick taking a knee. Now we haven't bought apparel with a SWISH and don't use Amazon. Now the corporations support gambling to rob the fans and take away the earnings without a product to sell when times get tough. Gambling online is not a good investment as the House wins except now the casinos lose which puts people out of jobs, but willing to send them with guns to help NIKE profit and cut benefits for their workers. Oh well, there will be enough gas to run the big individual trucks that clog our streets just like Amazon trucks. TAX the Billionaires and no more taxes to the crooks.
Mackenzie Scott is doing the best she can to make the world a better place, HBCUs can certainly use the money, as many are in financial straits. Mackenzie Scott’s family helped put up the money to establish Amazon. Personally, I think we need to break it up as a monopoly and violative of antitrust law. I agree with you she doesn’t need to be referred to as Jeff Bezos’s wife, he’s off ruining the Washington Post.
Thank you for this refreshing column to start my day. I especially enjoyed your highlighting the philanthropist Mackenzie Scott. She's truly a role model! Glad to be reminded of March Madness and MLB Opening Day.
Thank you for the article, Evan . I will tell tried and true. Oregon will not tolerate a GOP candidate to win the Governor seat in Oregon. I was born and raised there. Money doesn’t buy an election or vote. That has been a proven fact. I have family there and they are all democrats. They will not stand for this especially since a few years ago Senator Susan Collins went there. I know what she was up to and her mindset as she is married to a lobbyist! Please don't be "personalities", I left corporate media to get away from personalities. Please just be real people.
