It used to feel there was a moral center to America and Americans that transcended political parties. How did fringe bigotry, narcissism, and greed muddy our moral clarity?

Really enjoyed this short piece, ostensibly about courage, but also about ingenuity, American ingenuity, I might add, that helped us defeat the Nazis in WWII. It really illustrates the importance of CHOICE in everything we do as well as the importance of TIMING. CARPE DIEM Folks!!! ✊🏼😆🙏🏼

I live in a red state with three GOP cowards to “represent” me in Congress. Your final paragraph is so powerful, especially the sentence, “There is nothing to be gained by sympathizing with these Republicans who pretend they have no options.”

Their despicable bid for pity “oh, but what about my family were I to stand up to tRump?” is just one more example of their shameless willingness to suck their voters dry.

Stuart, this was a great piece. I never heard of the Mosquito and the brave pilots that flew them. A good example of how all of us even if we feel rather "lowly" can make a difference. Thanks as always.

Let's stop dancing with the enemy and start fighting.

We have to think outside the box and be creative and unique to outthink our adversary, the Conservative Republican Organizations (CRO) that have been planning a government takeover for the past fifty years.

Consider that the Reagan, Libertarian (CRO) ticket in 1980 had a platform of

1. privatizing Social Security, ending Medicare and Medicaid,

2. ending the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and all antipollution efforts,

3. privatizing the US Postal Service and pretty much every other government-provided service,

4. and ending free public schools while cutting taxes on billionaires to nearly zero.

5. The result has been that, since 1981, the GOP has opposed virtually every form of government function, government preparation, and government taxation to pay for both.

These should sound familiar, and you should realize that Trump and the Republican Party are following the direction of the CRO.

Today, with all the planning and money, the CRO's first mistake was that they had planned to use the Alien and Sedition Act of 1798, but had miscalculated our judges' response in our courts, who declared this act unlawful and unconstitutional.

We must outthink them, creating new approaches.

For instance, imagine a new format for a TV program where a live debate will occur between a Republican and a Democrat, and would be unmonitored except to limit speaking times for each candidate. The topic to be discussed will be selected by each of the debaters and by the public. No monitor, no coaching, just debating. Let them have to say what they will do about Medicare, Medicaid, etc., each week, a new set of debaters from the same or neighboring states.

There should be no more vague, illusionary talks about oligarchs or authoritarianism in Congress and the public. We must identify who our enemies are, in Congress, the Democrats should be directing accusations at a republican sitting across the aisle, stating that they opposed Medicare, that they are supporting Trump, and Musk. No more nice guy, they are supporting our government takeover. Stop being socially appropriate.

Also, the term Oligarch is a benign, unfamiliar term that many do not know what it means. So let me describe it in real terms. These are narcissistic bullies who have billions of dollars and want to control a government to make more money, not to improve he government to better care for its citizens, but to make money for themselves.

Understand, a billion dollars is equal to one thousand million dollars. In other words, there are 1,000 million dollars in a billion dollars.

So you go from 1 thousand to 10 thousand to 100 thousand to 1000 thousand (or a million) to 10 million to 100 million to 1000 million, and then you have a billion dollars.

If you spent $10,000 daily for 365 days, you would have spent $ 3,650,000 for the year. For 100 years, you would have spent $ 365,000,000, less than ½ a billion. And yet these bully narcissists want to get more money by taking over our government.

Billionaires are a sick bunch of people whose behavior is that of a sociopathic personality disorder.

My fantasy regarding my restaurant in Glen Cove was that if it was successful, I would use the profits to pay myself a reasonable living salary. I would take the balance and apply it to the wages of all who worked at the restaurant. This was my fantasy, and now I know that my thinking had shades of Marxism.

"Today, Trump attacks Canada with language more threatening than any used by Adolf Hitler toward the then British Commonwealth nation" Worst is yet to come. Donald "The Beast" Trump is building a wall once again. Colossal tariff wall that is the beginning of the end for the system of down. At first the beast will pull the plug out of the global economy. The worst financial crisis of human history will pull a swarm of the banks underwater and the bank run begins. Then the beast will collapse a mountain of debt shattering the backbone of the monetary system causing a systemic risk to realize. Finally the beast will cast American citizens into a system slavery under the name of Ronald Wilson Reagan, just to "honor his legacy" count the number. After the destruction a new world order will be established in the US. And the Golden Age begins from the ruins of the world wide collapse. All of the system slaves will love it. No more cash - just digital transactions. No more traditional criminal activity. No more tax evasion. No more transactions without the "all seeing eye". Outcasts will hate the world without freedom, hope and privacy. To cover up the mess and distract the public by smoke and mirrors, the beast will engage in a war with Iran. Lies and deceit, corruption and decay, dancing on the graves will continue. Until; Black hole sun, won't you come, won't you come... I want to play a game. Time has come to opt out of the empire of filth. Live or die...

Republicans Don't Like the Nazi Takeover But Most Cannot Admit It

The current Nazi party was recently "voted" into the White House because as they said we need a businessman to run government and 49.5% of us bought into the nonsensical argument But as Tim Walz recently said on MSNBC there are two problems with this thinking

First the government is not supposed to be run as a for profit company modeled as some American large conglomerate Government in a democratic republic is meant to serve WE the people It's not meant to be a for profit company but an institution that serves the needs of the people, that is, those who need a helping hand, those less fortunate than wealthy billionaires, those who need housing, those who need nutritional support, those who are crushed financially due to the high costs of living, those who need medical science or care And due to government's job to support the people's needs it has to take on tasks that for profit companies refuse to take on simply because there's no profit and advantage for them to do those tasks So government takes them on and WE the taxpayer help support such endeavors

The second problem is that the Orange Cheeto and his Nazi regime are incompetent and dishonest in how businesses work in general As a matter of fact the Cheeto has personally bankrupted companies 5 times due to his business incompetence But beyond sheer ineptitude Cheeto and his Nazi sycophants have turned the government into a corrupt financial turnstyle cash machine using cryptocurrency to line his own pockets and those billionaires aligning along with his deceptive trade and grifting policies

The American public is witnessing the greatest political scam in its 250y history which is in and of itself both breathtaking and shocking All of it occurring as unaware or occasional pundits look the other way as if that will be make it all be alright

Soooo feel like protesting some more??

Thank you for that dramatic history lesson. As trump, musk, and the court jesters tear America down, slash veteran's benefits and hollow out American soft power, we can only hope enough Americans can have the courage of those remarkable mosquito pilots and restore America to its once proud past.
