Oh Boy this news is terrible! I truly was hoping it would "tank" in the Senate! I guess my hope now is enough people get disgusted that their Medicaid is gone, their food banks will be gone and all the other things they rely on are gone that they will vote those out responsible for all this chaos and hurt!

Trump spent 4 years with Tony Robbins learning "marketing tricks", actually mind control with Neuro linguistic programming. He has reframed 30% of the country with repetition and exhausted the rest. He IS dystopia. I am not a science fiction reader, but there must be a story that gets us out of this. Anybody?

Absolutely! Wonderful piece reflecting the extensive damage the maga murder bill will have on life, finances, and medical needs of many millions, including grabbing food from the mouths og babes so the wealthy can stuff their gluttonous faxes with more caviar and truffles. Bezos will be able to rent St Peter's Cathedral, or but it outright for his wedding anniversary.

Indeed. While the trump voter is going to pay a stiff price for this deadly bill, dems are partly to blame for being unable to sell a $20 for $5. Message bereft. A to-do list isn't going to cut it in the political sphere any longer, if ever. While I love the smell of schadenfreude in the moring, this maga murder bill is so destructive that the only people celebrating outside the billionaire class will be morticians, bill collectors, and foreclosure firms. Maybe the evilgelicals will open some urgent care centers for the destitute. Only kidding! The profit gospel has just been sent $manna from heaven by their orange, criminal, felon, savior.

Mencken also noted. "No one in this world, so far as I know, has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people," trump knows this. And the repulsive Mitch McConnell knows this as well, as he remarked about the damage the maga murder bill will cause by saying, they'll get over it... And, sadly, they likely will... The maga kill bill will be yesterday's news and the media can get back to bashing Mamdani and trans people. The real issues of the day...

I read the entire essay. Painful yes. Crucially important you bet! I’m shocked and aggrieved by the mendacity. HCR letters from an American outlined the 4 major issues in front of us. DWORKIN says keep calling and writing Congress. I don’t want to see these atrocities fade out with more spewing from the White House cesspool.

Check out Sheldon White House’s speech on the senate floor. He compared the ugly bill and its proponents to parasitic wasps who take control of the hosts CNS - central nervous system - to command self-destruction of the host to ensure its own survival. On point! His anguish was palpable

There's so much difficult truth in this column that I'm afraid people won't read it through to the end. This is the kind of dinner table conversation that NONE of your relatives want to hear, because it forces them to consider their fascination with 'celebrity' and how (as a small example of the downstream effects) all those exotic seafood confections we consume in imitation of their lifestyle depend on the de facto enslavement of fisherfolk in SE Asia. And I wonder just how much garbage and pollution was generated by Bezos' wedding? We do know that he previously asked for a historic bridge to be demolished along the waterway where he docks his half billion dollar party boat because it's superstructure is so tall it wouldn't fit under it. We watch, we buy the magazines, we gossip about their doings, and all the while our Republic is burning. I'm mostly mum at family gatherings now,. Like Cassandra standing on the wall of Troy, pointing at the coming Armageddon, I know I won't be heard. But at least there's Substack.

Wow! 😮 I feel the sere of your words. Keep writing! It’s your voice staying alive. As daunting as these days have become I myself am committed to remaining UNDAUNTED. Like flying our flag, I use capitols to mock the cheese head currently in the oval. Best to you Leigh!!

Sisterhood forever. Thanks, Nancy. I was fearful that people wouldn't read my post, either.
