Affordability In America And Purchasing Power Of The Dollar

It’s clear that there is an affordability crisis in the US So called “Socialist Democrats” Zohran Mamdami(New York) and Katie Wilson(Seattle) winning mayoral races in major US cities on opposite coasts of the country bring a resounding signal to America at large that the cost of living is a major issue concerning the electorate

But while the efforts at all levels of government should be applauded, the bandaids that are being put forth just like Harris tried to do in 2024 will not work because the underlying problem in the US economy is the failure of the currency and its purchasing power WHICH HAS LOST 99% OF WHAT IT WAS IN 1971 WHEN NIXON TOOK THE COUNTRY OFF A GOLD STANDARD That’s called inflation!!

The Fed’s economists are simply in denial that a return to a gold standard will help solve the inflationary spiral that the country is in along with cutting fiscal spending We are headed for a 1929 financial implosion unless the Fed wakes up but WE shouldn’t hold our collective breath The only thing to do now is get out of dollars and into Constitutionally(Article 1 Section 8)sound money which is gold and silver

Not true FDR devalued the price of gold The government began to buy gold at increasing prices, which raised the price of gold in terms of dollars. This, in turn, lowered the dollar's value in terms of gold and foreign currencies. The goal was to raise commodity prices, relieve debtors, and encourage exports

But I can understand why you misunderstood the issue because FDR while not attempting to confiscate gold did try to buy gold from holders of gold and Congress also passed a resolution making it illegal for creditors to demand payment in gold, even if the original contract stated it

But it was Nixon when foreigners began demanding gold in exchange for dollars that the age of fiat currency began

If Trump threatens to rescind Mamdani’s US citizenship, Mayor Mamdani should float the idea of using eminent domain to take over Trump Tower for use as a homeless shelter.

That would take over the news cycle for a couple of days — and make Trump’s head explode!

I bet a majority of Cuomos tally was from that bastard stepson Staten Island. 😂

Next morning watching. Good news is good whenever you hear it.

Will these results motivate incumbent Republicans to stop capitulating to everything Trump says he wants (which may change tomorrow if it turns out to be unsuccessful and/or unpopular)? At some point self-interest should kick in even if self-respect never does. (I love the fact that Trump is blaming “Trump wasn’t on the ballot and the shutdown” for the Democratic victories. Does he think people LIKE the shutdown? I’m waiting for him to start saying Congress needs to come back into session to end the shutdown, as if he weren’t the person who told them to do it in the first place.

Slightly different theory of the case on the Dem wins tonight: Mamdani, Sherrill, and Spanberger all ran on affordability, jobs, and the economy, albeit in different ways, speaking to different audiences. NYC has A LOT of poor, working poor, and working class people who clearly responded to Mamdani's message of making life more affordable for them, whether it's free bus rides to get to work or city-sponsored grocery stores in their neighborhood food deserts. Sherrill and Spanberger did the same, talking about jobs, the economy and affordability. So my theory is that regardless of whether the candidate is a democratic socialist or democratic natsec moderate, their messages were remarkably similar. And they resonated.

Who, for some reason, all the pollsters said would make the NJ governor's race very close. How wrong they were. The biggest polling fail of the night.

One of those PA justices retained last night, David Wecht, is the son of the late Cyril Wecht, lawyer, doctor, famous pathologist. David shares his father's absolute brilliance.

We-ell, if the "market" won't put supermarkets/affordable & abundant food shopping in "some" neighborhoods, maybe the city needs to step up.

Can we please take a moment to acknowledge that Sherrill's and Spanberger's wins in NJ and VA are a giant slap in the clown face to SecDrunk's performative masculinity, 'warrior culture' from two women who've actually served in war zones. As Kegstand's been erasing women from active duty and military history, two women stood up and won massive victories in two competitive states on the strength of their quiet competence and decency. Congratulations to our NatSec Dems!

And Welcome to the first day of our pro-democracy Restoring America Era! 🇺🇸💙💙
