Andrew you summed it up beautifully. Yes his numbers are in the tank, but the dems have to keep pushing through and doing what's right for our Nation as a whole!

Unfortunately, the Dems have a very incompetent leadership. In both the house and senate. It will be up to the rank and file and voters to do this work. As it has always been.

Cheeto’s One Fear: The Epstein Files

Most malignant narcissists don’t have fear of anything but when in public life and that life depends on power, a major fear is exposure of immoral conduct, such as being a pedophile since it can repulse even the staunchest of supporters

Perhaps it leads to smudging someone out who knows too much, labeling the death as a suicide Perhaps it leads to a government shutdown(https://bit.ly/4nO5xrd) to keep some files from being released Perhaps it leads to a weak Congresswoman Boebert being called to the Black House to be confronted not only by the AG and FBI director but by the pedophile himself, to be coerced to remove her signature from a damning discharge petition that would expose the immoral conduct Perhaps a government shutdown would be to buy time to wait for a special election Tennessee Congressman to be sworn in to nullify a discharge petition number and force the master collaborator speaker of the House

Do anything to stop the discharge petition because MAGA is not happy with Dear Leader and release will weaken his stranglehold on Congress and the MAGA electorate

Thank you Andrew. For the article Andrew. I loved the article. In my humble opinion John King it is about affordability. And many other reforms that our government will need in 2028.

They do NOT care what people think. They will just continue on with their destruction of America, just like their plan has been all along. What they wanted is what they got, control of the government - by conning enough people to get them to think they are for them. They are NOT, never have been, never will be. They did what they are very very very good at - manipulate people with their propaganda techniques to convince people that they are on their side. NOW they are free to do whatever the hell they want. And they are doing it in spades. We are ALL being manipulated and part of that is once they are in power like now.... They crush the opposition and make them feel that there is no hope. And they go out of their way to keep pulling the rug out from under everyone. Example - they do NOT follow the laws, or rules, everyone else does, or think they should, but they do NOT, because they do NOT care. They have power and now they are using it. To see how this all fits together, how we got to this point, who are the players that are literally killing us, our democracy, an our planet, and more important WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT THAT WORKS - read "Invisible Doctrine: The Secret History of Neoliberalism" by George Monbiot and Peter Hutchison. A vote for any Republican (or ANY politician that falls for the Neoliberal BS) anywhere is a vote for the further destruction of America and yourself and your family........

I agree. The corporate media websites love to hide behind polling as being objective, rather than doing a deep dive into what is really going or, or providing any context. MS NOW does it too much, as well. Trump still has Mike Johnson, the Senate, the Six Supremes and a cult-like loyalty from his appointments in the executive branch. His approval rating could hit 25-30% and it wouldn't matter. Caged animals don't care about polls. They lash out.

Oh my God, if the Dems can't smash all this bullshittery like a fucking sledgehammer, they should run upon their swords.

Hopefully, next year's mid-term elections will be the first of many course corrections our nation desperately needs. Affordability is Issue #1 because it affects every last one of us. But if the Dems are smart, they'll roll in the utter public corruption of this administration and its disregard for the rule of law. Those are winning issues, and I'm feeling hopeful about next year.

"Remember, Biden managed to stabilize and grow the economy, yet his polling never recovered." And why was that? Corporate media....that's why. Have we heard or read many stories about Trump's age? He's 79. How about Trump's memory issues and mistakes with names etc? We sure heard about Biden's age and mental capacity.......every day. Think about that.

Andrew writes "Meanwhile, MAGA voters feel abandoned." But is that really true? How come Trump still polls at around the 35-to-40 percent mark? The core of the MAGA cult will never, ever abandon this guy. We've been listening to Trump's bullshit for a decade now, and this hardcore group still believes and buys what he's saying. It may be maddening to a lot of us, but that's still the reality.

You are correct but now the other 65% have figured out Trump is a liar and a fraud. Maybe they will vote this time.

In this chaos that abounds the polls show hope, now we have to build on that hope. However, I am still baffled that voters who voted for Trump saw him as a hope for a great tomorrow. What did I miss? It seems there is just a lot of anger for angers sake. That is if not troubling it is scary. As you said, Andrew: Stay focused on affordability and treat everything else as noise. And indeed there is lots of noise to ignore. Thanks Andrew for all you do.

I wish Democrats would stop touting affordability as the main concern of the American public, and the greatest weakness of the Trump regime.

Affordability is merely one aspect of peoples' disgust and concern.

I don't give a damn about the price of eggs, when innocent people are being rounded up and abused. I couldn't care less about gas prices dropping a few cents, when billions are being stolen in front of our eyes, and the President is blatantly enriching himself and his family.

There has never been a more traitorous and corrupt man in the Oval Office. Trump openly admires and coddles dictators and criminals, and strives to emulate both.

There has never been a more racist or confused political agenda in America.

While Some of Trump's main financial backers and advisors are Christian zealots who swear allegiance to Israel, others are sworn Neo Nazis, who despise the Jewish people and anyone not white. To add to the confusion, Trump has the support of the Technocrat billionaires, who envision self governance and the suppression of the general public as mere plebeians. Peter Thiel is openly gay and VP Vance identified as gay while in University apparently, which goes against the rigorous hatred of anyone different, espoused by the Zealot and the Nazi factions.

Combine the above chaotic amalgamation that are frantically conspiring to dismantle all that is good in America, while robbing the treasury blind, and you have a much greater concern than the weekly grocery bill. Add to that the highly suspicious results of the 2024 elections and the ongoing underhanded attempts to ensure Republican victory in future elections, and the price of eggs moves pretty low on the list of important issues.

The current regime and the collaboration of self-motivated sycophants that support it, have no intention of leaving office peacefully. Under the vile guidance of Stephen Miller, every state is expected to have a quick response Gestapo goon squad in place next month.

If the American people don't find the backbone to make a decisive stand soon, the 250 year experiment will end in dismal failure. Survival will definitely take priority over affordability.

These are desperate times and the 2026 midterms are another year of atrocities away.

"First feed the face, then talk right and wrong." - Bertholt Brecht

I wish everyone was a saint, but unfortunately that's not how most of us are manufactured. You can't blame people, worried about where their children's next meal is coming from, for prioritizing their concerns over abstract principles of governance, despite the obvious importance of those principles.

My greatest concern that we are faced with is the threat to American democracy. I'm someone who believes Trump and his gang of authoritarian creeps will do everything they can to prevent elections from even taking place. So I agree with much of what you are saying. But I also acknowledge that affordability--the often-referred to "price of eggs"--is what many Americans care about more than anything else. It just is. Whatever messaging it takes for Democrats to regain some power in the federal government, I'm for it. And even then, I still believe that won't stop Trump from doing whatever he can to utterly burn down American democracy.

I think they Dems have to get out there and start talking to the people. There’s a problem and they can solve it . Explain like a teacher or even a customer service representative how they will solve the rising costs for them . Like Your dad says stop focus grouping to death and have real talk.
