He spent years as a Hollywood writer and producer. But he made the leap to political organizing after reaching a moral breaking point following Trump's surprise 2016 win.
I'm truly hopeful for a BIG Blue Wave this year. It's truly important to get as many younger voters as you can to register to vote and hopefully to vote more to the left that to the right. The Republican party of old is gone and so may be the Democratic Party! Talking about the pandemic, that sits squarely in our leaders lap. We have to remember when "HE" said the Covid would be over in "a couple of weeks." He didn't know although he said it anyway. HE went against Fauci and offered quack remedies that were dangerous and not helpful and the bottom line is that so many people died that shouldn't have. This is something "HE" NEVER EVER talks about anymore. Although, once again our Department of Health and Human Services is once again will be compromised if we get another virus like Covid anytime in the future!
It is extremely important that we counter the skullduggery that has already begun in regard to the 2026 midterms. Organizing is good; messaging right is critical; countering rigging of elections is paramount.
p.s. Jason Berlin was my porn name until I learned of this Jason Berlin. Back to the drawing board!
The universal assumption is that it's the "Democrats" (that is, the DNC and the old hippies running it) who will challenge and defeat Trumpism. That's a mistake. They won't. Whatever's been crawling out of the woodwork over the last year is better described as a Forceful Rejection Of Fascism. It's made for some very odd bedfellows, and something that standard-issue Democrats are very uncomfortable with. The Dems can choose to scamper ahead of that parade and try to make it their own, but I don't think it's going to fool anybody. Any erstwhile Democrat who's stood up to Trump (Pritzker, Murphy, Van Hollen, Talarico, Newsom, and etc.) have largely done so by telling the DNC to drop dead. Strongly worded letters are old hat, what's needed is some really good street fighting. When they go low, we kick em in the nuts.
The same forces that destroyed the old GOP are doing the same thing to the DNC. And from destruction comes rebirth.
I share your hope. If the Dems rebound with a character like Newt Gingrich who's all triumphalist, maximalist, and 'contract-y with America', our goose is cooked.
True but I'm still trying to be hopeful! If you lose hope you lose everything we've done up to this point. I'm trying to be more positive than negative!
SCOTUS has become the judicial arm of the MAGA/Christian Nationalist movement having been orchestrated by the mega-funded Federalist Society and Heritage Foundation Now with full control of the court, it’s now time to “make hay” on the investments the Right has made over the last 30 years The McConnell Senate excuse to delay and then accelerate SCOTUS nominees has led to the desired result of an imbalanced court of today
Elie Mystal, judicial correspondent for the Nation, has since 2020 argued for a congressionally dictated court expansion(https://bit.ly/4b9YwhM) Arguments that it would lead to continued court expansion is okay with him since it would over time dilute the power of the court hence making it more effective Court watcher extraordinaire Mark Joseph Stern has recognized this judicial disaster and suggested that a 4 part congressional plan(https://bit.ly/4soC0rY) would help in judicial reform
But one thing is now clear SCOTUS reform in some form should take place and that should be one of the primary issues that Democratic candidates should be confronted with going into the 2026 midterms

I hope the "rebirth" of the Democratic Party is better than the rebirth of the Republican Party has been!
