Women who cede their agency and authenticity to misogynistic men (and there is a rogues' gallery of them in this administration) are clinging to a false understanding of the past, when supposedly men were kind and protective providers of the emotional and physical needs of their wives and children. Daddy Knows Best. Little House on the Prairie, the Southern Baptist conception of the Servant Master. They turn away from the inconvenient fact that a large percentage of married women are abused by their husbands, and a larger percentage abandoned by them. And how about all those post-divorce deadbeat Dads whose failure to support their kids drives them and their mothers into poverty? They maybe read romance novels or belong to one of those smarmy churches that preach submission without question. It's beyond sad. Given the reality of the risk, it's tragic. Good thing Trump is so evidently one of those men your mother warned you about that the wallpaper is starting to peel off.
The price of being ‘served’ by the Trump regime is surrendering your dignity, freedom of movement, free speech, choice, etc., and for women, endless misogyny. Religious Male Nationalism is just a pseudo-American version of coercive dominance under the guise of religion.
Conservative/trad women who've benefitted from the hard work that other women, mostly liberal, did to gain civil and workplace rights for them can take a damned seat. They're happy to benefit from other women's willingness to take the incoming so that all women can be treated fairly in the public sphere; they're happy to stand on the backs of giants - but they're just as happy to stab other women in the back as long as they stay in the good graces of powerful men. Conservative/trad women have always been women's worst enemies, and the ones in this administration are no different. So, Karoline and the women of her MAGA coven can STFU.
I question referring to DJT as a "strong man." A powerful man doesn't have to resort to rudeness, bullying, or degrading others. He's weak, childish, and disgusting. We've finally found someone ignorant enough to be America's answer to Nero.
I'd like to say that there had to be some thing, some turning point, at which DJT came to be such a despiser of women. But I don't believe there is. It's how he was brought up, no doubt about it. I doubt his father treated his mother any better. Being the 'chosen' scion of a rich man made it easy for Trump to have his 'way' with women. There are stories that he 'supplied' women to his classmates at that dumping ground for unwanted children that is referred to as a 'military school'. You can imagine the long list of girls and women who have signed NDAs and taken small payments to keep quiet about his incursions into their lives.
Then there is the effect that his Consigliere, Roy Cohn, had on his opinion of how women should be treated, especially in financial matters. The fact that Trump maintains 'ownership' of the 'gifts' he has given his current wife speaks loudly. Even with the unknown revisions in their prenupts, which made her a chattel, he no doubt controls everything. The only changes probably were for the benefit of their son, Barron.
As for those who would justify his barbarity, they deserve what is coming to them, for surely it will. Their shame will be eternal.
Women telling us we should be grateful to Trump is a manifestation (now that's a great word) of their own empty souls. I believe Kristoffer Ealy has two words for the women that lick Trumps boots: patriarchal bargain. They are women that believe this bargain will gain them status and perceived glory. And then Karoline Leavitt saying we should all be grateful for his transparency at calling women pigs. Poor thing doesn't even realize the mud she is wallowing in. Very good article Lisa. Thank you. Take care.
This supports Michelle Obama’s contention that we are not going to elect a woman as president any time soon.
Sad to say, but I think she is 100% correct.

So if Karoline Leavitt is referred to as “bimbo”, she should be flattered.
I think 'bimbo' is the least of what she's called. Show some gratitude, Karoline.
