We need to have “professionals” test the ICE SS detention facilities. I nominate Trump and his whole cabinet team as the only qualified individuals to give those facilities a credible and thorough test.
The Clinton's did alot of damage to America too with their neoliberal stances. But my fears are that perpetually frightened Democrats....even IF they continue to exist, & somehow gain power, will simply KEEP ICE cause they fear right wing reaction to a complete dismantling but also have oversight too bullshit us into thinking they'll be tamed. (toothless). Typical response...
1) Bernie & Co were right. ICE (& DHS) should never been created. But noooo. Republicans wanted, & got, a bigger police state after 9/11. And yes, plenty of Democrats (hi, Hillary) supported it. Among other criticisms, “the left” said that ”Homeland” was too reminiscent of NAZI Germany. And now Miller et al are treating that as a feature, not a bug.
2) We do have civilian control of ICE (& DHS). Trump, Stephen Miller, Kristi Noem & Tom whatshisname are all civilians. What we need is control by citizens who believe in democracy, not the current authoritarian thugs who are using them to advance the police state. And we need to disband ICE & DHS after Democrats regain control of the government.
